Termite Barrier Systems For New Structures

Constructing a new home or place of business is one of the most significant investments a person can undertake in their lifetime. In Australia, one of the most significant threats to these investments are subterranean termites.

Termite Barrier #1Subterranean termites are the most commonly seen form of wood pest infestations. These termites build their nests beneath or around a building and will emerge to feed on the cellulose found in wood and other similar materials, causing many millions of dollars in damage around the country every year.

To protect against termite attack, builders traditionally use one of two methods:

1) Chemical termite barriers – this method involves flooding the surrounding soil around a home with termite-killing substances
2) Physical termite barriers – these are typically constructed of physically hard materials to prevent termite entry, but can crack, rust or corrode over time and can even be moved by household pests

Each of these conventional methods have their drawbacks. Because of this, The White Ant Co. (parent company of Protectant Pest Management) designed our own termite barrier which combines the benefits of each type of traditional termite barrier while eliminating their deficiencies. Not only do our termite barriers provide a physical barrier against termite entry, they are constructed with a bonded termiticide which not only repels but kills termites. These termite barriers are not affected by water or moisture and do not leach away into the soil. So unlike a traditional chemical termite barrier, they do not require periodic re-treatments.

Termite Barrier #2The Protectant™ Termite Barrier Systems Group has been designed and constructed in Australia and we consider our termite barriers to be the ultimate protection against subterranean termite attack. They have been expansively tested over many years in field studies supervised by the government, comply to AS3660 and the Building Codes of Australia, and have been audited under the CodeMark System. Our quality termite barrier systems, installed during construction, can't leach chemicals, rust, or corrode and have a proven 50 year durability.

These termite barriers can save many thousands of dollars in termite treatment and repair costs. That's why it pays to choose the ultimate termite barrier system available to give your most valuable asset the highest level of complete termite protection available.

Ask your builder in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne or other regional areas about our termite barrier systems. You will be pleasantly surprised at the small cost of our termite barriers.

The Protectant Termite Barrier System will give your home the ultimate security against termites without flooding the soil under and around your home with chemicals. Fully installed by our technicians, it will protect any construction method.

The Protectant Termite Barrier System offered for installation on your projects will provide "whole of building protection against concealed entry by subterranean termites into the structure" as per the Australian Standards code AS3660.1 of 2000 and the total system complies with the requirements of the BCA and the Queensland amendments related to termite barrier systems.

The Protectant Termite Barrier System is designed to deter termites from using concealed entry points where they would normally pass through undetected. Manufactured in Australia from quality components, the system is installed at a minimum height of 75mm above the ground level finishing flush with the external face of the brick or masonry joint and adhere to the concrete slab. The slab pipe penetrations (including Telstra, electrical and water) are protected by high quality PVC flanges.

Unlike chemical in-soil systems, there are no expensive re-treatments. The only maintenance you will require is an annual inspection by a licensed termite inspector.

Service pipe (penetration) protection is installed before the concrete is poured. All possible entry points are protected, including the service penetrations. Once the slab is poured the barrier system is locked in place.

The Termigreen Termite Barrier System is designed to deter termites from using concealed entry points where they would normally pass through undetected.

Premium Flow is a reticulation system for treating the soil around the perimeter of a concrete slab and under construction joints as a deterrent against the concealed entry of termites. The system utilizes state-of-the-art cylindrical PC low-volume drippers to provide uniform calculated delivery and the soil dispersal of the termiticide is enhanced by the properties of the geotextile sleeve to create an even dispersal mechanism.

The chemical termite barrier is produced by a combination of mass flow in the geotextile which delivers the solution and capillary action in the soil which is responsible for its spread.

The Premium Flow system was developed by Protectant Pest Management through intensive R&D focusing on how to build an easily replenishable and serviceable chemical termite barrier system to protect buildings from subterranean termites.

Premium Flow is attached to the face edge of a concrete slab and covered with soil with the delivery pipe approximately 30-50mm below the finished surface level. Placed on a pad of sand under the moisture barrier (plastic sheet) at the line of a construction joint in concrete slabs. This will form a chemical termite barrier approximately 300mm wide at the construction joint.

Premium Flow is attached to the soil face of a retaining wall and is layered at 200mm centres across the surface of the retaining wall.

Premium Flow will deliver 100 litres of termiticide to each cubic metre of barrier in less than 10 minutes. Only one pump-up point is required for every 70m of line.

The co-efficient of uniformity (CU) for the discharge of termiticide from emitters in the drip line is approximately 98%.

Premium Flow is manufactured in Australia from UV stabilised and biologically resistant materials.
